COMPUTER NETWORKING AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

Description
This program will prepare the student to fill the role of technical support in the dynamic and expanding field of client/server computing, enterprise networks, administration and Internet management. Students are required to complete a work placement component which provides on-the-job training with a local company in their final semester.
Our courses are constantly evolving to incorporate a blend of leading edge and traditional technologies to meet the needs of local employers. This program is well suited to people who are interested in computers, but not math, physics or electronics. Many of the courses in the CN&TS program train the students towards obtaining Microsoft, A+ and Network + certifications.

Duration : 2 Years

Career Opportunities

Our graduates are hired by many businesses including the government, corporations, military, hospitals, and in the educations sector. Some graduates have started their own successful business in networking and web design. Graduates also work in network administration, computer hardware, help desk, application support and technical support. Employment of network and computer systems administrators is expected to grow 28% from 2013-2020.

COMPUTER PROGRAMMER ANALYST

Description
The CPA program provides hands-on experience in developing computer programs to satisfy business requirements. Graduates are well trained for a career as a programmer analyst. It has an outstanding work placement program, often turning away employers looking to ‘hire’ work placement students. Our CPA graduates are highly sought after.
Learning takes place in both classrooms and computer labs. Faculty bring a wealth of real world experiences to the classroom. Our courses are constantly evolving to meet the needs of local employers. This program is well-suited to people who are interested in computers, but not math,physics or electronics. We are one of a handful of colleges in North America that offers mainframe programming. We have a partnership with IBM’s academic initiative program where they supply our program with mainframe resources.

GAME DEVELOPMENT TECHNICIAN

Description
Game programming is a multi-billion dollar industry that is among the fastest growing in the world. The video game industry is in need of trained designers and programmers who understand the complexity and sophistication of these products designed for installation on home computers, game consoles, web pages and even cell phones. If you are creative and like to control the action, this program is for you.
This program introduces you to basic game concepts including introductory computer programming in C++, basic game console electronics, computer operating system usage, and database storage techniques. You will broaden your knowledge by examining and implementing 3-dimensional programs that expand into real games using industry standard libraries. You will also create sounds to include in games and integrate these sounds into your applications. At the advanced level, you will learn to use standard game engines to accomplish sophisticated graphics and interaction within your program control. Portability of code is emphasized at all stages of instruction.
Complementing the game development skills set is a sound background in software design methodology and programming.
Duration : 2 Years
